American Resource Center Suva

The American Resource Center (ARC) Suva is administered by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Suva, Fiji Islands. The ARC’s mission is to provide information about the United States of America including topics on U.S. society, history, politics, culture, education, democratic traditions, holidays and other issues of interest to Fijian and pacific regional audiences.

The ARC Suva was opened in 2012 and holds a collection of varied resources predominantly on the United States of America which facilitate the research needs of audiences by providing access to a variety of traditional and electronic resources including several high value online databases.  The ARC collection holdings have print, DVDs, periodicals, e-books and recently added makerspace resources including a 3D printer as part of its education outreach programs on science, technology, engineering and math.  As part of its delivery mechanism, the ARC integrates emerging social media and technology to promote and ensure a timely provision of information and service awareness to audiences. Since its establishment, the ARC has hosted a variety of events at the space including virtual programs to highlight different aspects of American culture and values with audiences locally and regionally. Education advising on higher education in the U.S. and scholarships are part of ARC services and interested patrons are welcome to visit and speak to an adviser or email us on the contact email noted below.

The ARC space is open to the public and provides free internet access and basic computer accessibility at three public workstations. ARC membership is free and access to the ARC is through appointment with the ARC Director, at least 24 hours prior to visit.
