Mitieli Cama, an alumnus from the U.S. South Pacific Scholarship Program (USSP) who graduated with a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii, Manoa in 2017, is now the Chief Statistician at the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. His work focuses on leading and managing the Household Survey Unit (HSU) to meet its operational goals and objectives.
The data he and his team gather and analyze provides important information for developing policy, forecasting and making macroeconomic decisions for Fiji’s long-term economic health. He leads a team of over 30 people to produce business statistics, price indices and policy recommendations. He received a “Bikle Award” at UH Manoa for submitting the best public administration policy paper. He is now working towards his mini-thesis to complete his second Masters in Economics at The University of the South Pacific.
