The U.S. Embassy announces an additional $1 million USD grant to UN World Food program in support of its emergency food assistance to the victims of cyclone Winston. The funds are provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of Food for Peace (FFP).
Previously, the United States provided $500,000 USD to sustain displaced families with water, sanitation and hygiene assistance, $200,000 USD to support humanitarian coordination, $400,000 USD for reconstruction efforts and $100,000 USD in emergency relief. On January 22, 2016, our Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance launched a program called “Building Resilient Communities” with the Fiji Red Cross, which includes a grant of $1,278,000 USD.
The United States is proud to support the efforts of the Fijian government and organizations in assisting the Fijian people to rebuild after Cyclone Winston.
