USAID’s Mission to the Philippines, Pacific Islands, and Mongolia is seeking information, feedback and recommendations from interested parties (i.e. U.S. or non-U.S. organizations, nongovernmental organizations, universities, consortium, for-profit organizations) on two upcoming programs.
One is a multi-sectoral, grant-making facility to build self-reliant Pacific island partners by establishing the Pacific-American Partnership Fund, a grant-making facility that will provide and monitor grants to support the goal of self-reliant Pacific Island partners. At the highest level, the goal of the activity is to improve the quality of life of Pacific Islanders by reducing long-term vulnerabilities associated with climate change and disasters, achieving sustainable market-driven economic growth, and advancing democratic governance. The activity will provide USAID a platform to invigorate partnerships within and between Pacific communities to reach this goal.
The second is a program to address the drivers of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the Pacific Region that are degrading coastal fisheries and biodiversity thus negatively impacting local livelihoods and maritime security.
